Urban Living Lab Webinar Series
Testing the viability of innovative solutions in a Living Lab environment can be a vital step to demonstrate the economic, social and environmental viability of business and operational models. This Summer and Autumn School will first feature key aspects of the Living Lab concept and will then take closer look at main components of urban electric mobility, the electrification of public transport and the provision of first and last mile connectivity by private sector operators. Last, implementation of the e-mobility pilots in participatory and sector integrating EcoZones will be discussed.
This online programme will focus on an implementation-oriented perspective on sustainable mobility, focusing on the potential contribution of selected solutions to sustainable development, climate change and urban development, which includes four core modules:
● Living lab concepts and operation with Webinars on 21 and 28 September
● Electrification of public transport (incl. integration, charging, procurement) with Webinars on 5 and 12 October,
● First/last-mile connectivity (incl. business modelling, vehicle design and prototyping) with Webinars on 19 and 26 October,
● Integrated urban planning for sustainable development with Webinars on 2 and 9 November 2020)
In addition an assignment module can be chosen for a more in-depth analysis of a key area of urban Living Labs:
● Transportation data analysis and decarbonisation pathway development
● Business model development for sustainable urban mobility solutions
● Implementation project development at the local level
● Sector integration in participatory eco-zones
After setting the stage in current mobility patterns, energy intensity of different modes and technologies, and an overview on the Living lab concept, the course will review existing approaches to transport decarbonization, which will aim to highlight the interlinkages between climate change mitigation and other relevant
